1 ‘Totally Killer’

Director Nahnatchka Khan mixes a little bit of horror, comedy, and some time travel in the upcoming movie, “Totally Killer.” According to the plot, an infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer” suddenly shows up 35 years after killing a group of teenage girls to claim another victim. But Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) is determined to stop the masked maniac. Jamie enlists the help of her friend Amelia (Kelcey Mawema), and together, they travel back in time to 1987 and link up with the teen version of her mom (Olivia Holt) to stop the killer. 

“Totally Killer” is set for an Oct. 6, 2023, release date on Amazon Prime Video. 

2 ‘The Burial’

Also coming to Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 13, 2023, is the drama “The Burial,” featuring Jamie Foxx, directed by Maggie Betts. The events in the movie are said to have been inspired by true life events. The film follows the story of a Mississippi lawyer who took on the case of a funeral home owner, Jeremiah O’Keefe (Tommy Lee Jones), against a corporate funeral parlor conglomerate. With the help of his lawyer, O’Keefe won $260 million in compensation. The film explores themes like race, power, and injustice.

The movie will first be in theaters on Oct. 6th, but no worries, as it will be available on Amazon Prime Video a week later.

3 ‘Appendage’

The human mind often creates weird images and imaginations of terrible events and happenings. “Appendage” portrays how the human mind can create and define a person’s reality. In the storyline, Hannah, a young fashion designer, hits a breaking point in her life, leading to her dark inner thoughts. Gradually, Hannah’s inner thoughts begin to grow into a monstrous creature bent on ending her life.

“Appendage” is directed by Anna Zlokovic. The horror movie is coming to Hulu on Oct. 2, 2023.

4 ‘The Boogeyman’

In this horror film, Sophie Thatcher (portraying Sadie Harper) and Vivien Lyra Blair (as Sawyer Harper) star. Still reeling from the painful death of their mother, Sadie and Sawyer Harper find themselves plagued by a dark presence in their house. On the one hand, the girls struggle to get their grieving father, Chris Messina (as Will Harper), to pay attention to this strange experience. On the other hand, Will Harper struggles to convince his psychiatrist that there is a sadistic creature — the Boogeyman — lurking around his home.

The mystery thriller is set for a release date on Hulu on Oct. 5, 2023.

5 ‘Reptile’

Heads up, Justin Timberlake stars in this upcoming crime drama directed by Grant Singer. New England detective Tom Nichols (Benicio Del Toro) is hardened and unrelenting in his pursuit of a complicated murder case where nothing is as it seems on surface value. However, the case begins to dismantle the illusions in his personal life.

“Reptile” will be released on Netflix on Oct. 6, 2023. 

6 ‘Awareness’

The story follows Ian (Carlos Scholz), a teenager living on the outskirts of society with his father. Ian has the ability to generate visual illusions and manipulate the minds of unsuspecting victims. Aware of his powers, Ian runs petty, indiscreet scams to earn a living. However, one of his operations goes out of control publicly, making his abilities public knowledge. Ian becomes a hard target for two rival organizations seeking to exploit his powers. 

“Awareness” will be available on Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 11, 2023.

7 ‘Damsel’

“Damsel” is a fantasy film about a young woman (Millie Bobby Brown) who was told the lie that she would be marrying a handsome prince. Excited that she would be a princess, she agrees to the marriage only to find out that the royal family recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a bloodthirsty, fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her survival instincts and wits to save herself.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directs the action-adventure film, which will be available for streaming on Netflix on Oct. 13, 2023.

8 ‘The Pigeon Tunnel’

Academy Award-winning documentarian Errol Morris pulls back the curtain on the life and career of former British spy David Cornwell — renowned as John le Carré; the author of classic espionage novels like The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, The Constant Gardener, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Set against the Cold War’s riotous backdrop leading into the present day, the documentary film captures six decades of le Carré’s life as he delivers his final and most open and honest interview, mixed with rare archival footage and dramatized sketches.

“The Pigeon Tunnel” is a humane exploration of le Carré’s extraordinary journey and a perfect blend of fact and fiction. The documentary film is set to be released on Oct. 20, 2023, on Apple TV+.

9 ‘Burning Betrayal’

Babi is cheated on by her long-term partner, so she embarks on a new adventure. On this journey, she gets entangled in a risky love affair with Judge Marco. Their love story is full of a lot of sexual tension and danger. Will Babi’s betrayal turn out in her favor, or will it be the opposite? You are sure to find out when “Burning Betrayal” arrives on Netflix on Oct. 25, 2023. 

10 “Five Nights at Freddy’s”

The plot is set at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where a security guard, Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), has just been employed. On his first night on duty, he discovers that his new job will not be an easy one, which sets off his internal alarm system. Soon, Mike discovers some disturbing truth — the animatronic costumes at the local dinner aren’t just robots. They are alive. Will he survive five nights on the job?

We will find out when the movie arrives on Peacock on Oct. 27, 2023.
